Quick Honey Soy Chicken Thighs
Serves: 4 | Preparation Time: 10 minutes | Cooking Time: 20 minutes
Ingredients:
8 boneless, skinless chicken thighs (approx. 800g)
60ml (4 tablespoons) soy sauce
60ml (4 tablespoons) honey
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 teaspoon sesame oil (optional)
Sesame seeds and sliced spring onions for garnish (optional)
Method:
Prepare the Marinade: In a medium bowl, combine soy sauce, honey, minced garlic, grated ginger, olive oil, and sesame oil if using.
Marinate the Chicken: Place the chicken thighs in a shallow dish or a zip-lock bag. Pour the marinade over the chicken, ensuring all pieces are well coated. Let it marinate for at least 10 minutes. If you're short on time, you can proceed immediately.
Cook the Chicken: Heat a large non-stick frying pan over medium-high heat. Remove the chicken from the marinade (reserve the marinade) and place the thighs in the pan. Sear for about 5 minutes on each side until browned.
Add the Marinade: Pour the reserved marinade into the pan with the chicken. Reduce the heat to medium and let it simmer for another 5-7 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through and the sauce has slightly thickened.
Serve: Transfer the chicken to a serving platter. Drizzle the remaining sauce over the top. Garnish with sesame seeds and sliced spring onions if desired. Serve with steamed rice and your favourite vegetables.
Tips:
Advance Prep: Marinate the chicken in the morning or the night before to enhance the flavour and save time later.
Vegetable Boost: Add quick-cooking veggies like broccoli florets or snow peas to the pan for a one-pan meal.
Gluten-Free Option: Substitute soy sauce with tamari or a gluten-free alternative if needed.
Enjoy your delicious and easy meal perfect for busy evenings!
